International Waterbird Symposium in The Hague celebrates 15 years of flyway conservation in action

The 15th Anniversary of the African-Eurasian Migratoy Waterbird Agreement (AEWA) will is being celebrated at an International Symposium being hosted by the Government of the Netherlands in The Hague, where AEWA was concluded on 16 June 1995 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Last month, a new directory of Important Bird Areas in the Americas was launched in Washington D.C., USA. The directory, coordinated by the Americas Secretariat of BirdLife International, is the result of a joint effort between all countries in the Western Hemisphere with over 100 authors taking part in the 40 country or overseas territory chapters.

Important Funding Success for the Gangetic Dolphin Project

Conservationists striving to conserve the Endangered Gangetic dolphin have recently been awarded a significant funding boost from the Darwin Initiative. The three-year project, a collaboration between the Zoological Society of London and Aaranyak will be led by in-country Project Leader Dr Wakid Abdul, Programme Head of Gangetic Dolphin Research and Conservation Programme.
