Founded in 2010, the Nature-Communities-Development association is a national organisation that works for the conservation of nature, the protection of the environment and in particular birds, the promotion of biodiversity and the enhancement of ecosystems natural in Senegal. It also participates in improving the living conditions of local communities through training and support towards sustainable income-generating activities.
The Mission of Nature-Communities-Development is to work to develop volunteering and mobilise expertise for the conservation, enhancement and advocacy for biodiversity, and in particular for birds. NCD wants to make the life of local communities more sustainable.
The Senegal Bird Atlas is an initiative of the Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, with the support of the African-Eurasian Migratory Landbird Action Plan (AEMLAP). The project is a first for a French speaking country in Africa and an integral part of the Africa Bird Atlas Project.
