Providing scientific support to advocacy policy

BirdLife’s scientific information and analyses are used to influence the policies and decisions of governments, the corporate sector, other NGOs and society itself. BirdLife works closely with a range of policy fora, in particular the intergovernmental agreements like the Convention on Biological Diversity, Convention on Migratory Species (and its Agreements) and the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands. For example, BirdLife’s science shapes the lists of species some of these agreements cover, BirdLife’s indicators are widely used to measure the effectiveness of the agreements, and BirdLife’s data help to focus the programmes of work of these conventions.
