List of Albatross Species

By Nick Askew

Here's a list of Albatross species. In total there are 22 species in the albatross family, of which 17 are Globally Threatened according to BirdLife on behalf of the IUCN Red List. Seabirds, particularly member of the albatross family, are becoming increasingly threatened and at a faster rate globally than all other species-groups of birds; they face a wide variety of threats. Many declines are closely linked to the expansion of commercial longline fisheries in seabird feeding areas, combined with the impacts of invasive alien species at nesting colonies.
