Forget Africa’s “Big Five” - where in the world can you spot five Critically Endangered birds in one place? This year, proceeds from the British Birdwatching Fair will go towards conserving Western Siem Pang, a forest sanctuary home to 70% of Cambodia’s vultures and two of the world’s rarest ibises.

On the same day it was revealed that the total amount raised by the British Birdwatching Fair for conservation has passed the £5 million mark, the event dubbed the ‘Glastonbury of Birding’ revealed this year’s project: protecting Western Siem Pang, a haven for five Critically Endangered bird species

New study: India may have even fewer vultures...

India’s Critically Endangered vulture populations seemed to be stabilising, but a new study reveals that numbers may be fewer than we thought. Although vulture-killing livestock drug diclofenac has been banned, other drugs, equally fatal to vultures, have not. This is thought to be the main cause.
