BirdLife International is the world’s largest nature conservation partnership. Through our unique local-to-global approach, we deliver high impact and long-term conservation for the benefit of nature and people.
An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an experienced and fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) to join this unique organisation in their headquarters in Cambridge housed within the David Attenborough Building, home of ten conservation organisations – an inspirational place to work.
We are looking for an innovative individual to shape the future of accounting and maximise what we can do as an organisation. You will lead in the design, development and implementation of a new reporting and accounting package. You will be responsible for the financial aspect of BirdLife’s accounts whilst gaining experience supporting our offices and projects around the world. This will include overseeing the integration of overseas branch accounts into consolidated management accounts, variance analysis and reporting on variances, co-ordinating the annual budgeting process, managing the annual audit process, and providing support to non-finance staff in producing, reviewing and managing budgets. It will also include reporting to funders, statutory accounting, systems reviews and other ad-hoc tasks.
We are looking for someone who doesn’t just see this as another finance job, but an opportunity to join the BirdLife family and further develop their skills and experience to help a worthy cause.
You will need to possess excellent communication and personal skills, initiative and a flexible approach to problem solving. Previous team management experience is desirable, but not essential. You should be fluent in English and have good computer literacy, including excellent spreadsheet expertise. Knowledge of Charities accounting and regulations is an advantage.
