Marketing and Communications Manager

• Location: Quito, Ecuador
• Full time: 40 hours per week
• Contract: Open-ended
• Salary: $USD 32,600 
• Annual Leave: 21 days pro rata in year 1, increasing by 1 day pa to 25 days
 
BirdLife International is the world’s largest nature conservation partnership. Through our unique local-to-global approach, we deliver high impact and long-term conservation for the benefit of nature and people.
 
We are seeking a creative and experienced professional capable of inspiring, engaging and influencing others to take action in support of BirdLife’s mandate. This includes leading the development and implementation of  a communications and marketing plan for BirdLife’s work in the Americas, in line with its global approaches.
 
This person will be responsible for all regional communications and marketing efforts, in addition to all agency relationships as well as hands-on content creation across diverse platforms and media. They will lead the communication of BirdLife’s mission and value to its donors, Partners, staff, and other key audiences. 
 
Responsibilities include working with BirdLife’s fundraising and communications teams, Partner communications officers, long range and annual budget planning, as well as development of all systems, materials and infrastructure needed to support communications and marketing functions.
 
The ideal candidate will have 
• Relevant M.Sc. degree (e.g. marketing and/or communications) or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of the principles of strategic communications, marketing and fundraising.
• Ability to identify, write, and edit clear, message-driven copy that reinforces the organization’s brand; and the ability to hire, train and/or mentor others to do so.
• Significant relevant experience in marketing and communications high level positions in conservation NGOs
• Strategy: corporate and consumer product marketing experience: strategy development and implementation, market segmentation, identification of key drivers, and production of key messages and positioning tactics.
• Hands-on implementation: management of advertising and collateral production processes for a suite of products, programs, or services, both domestically and internationally.
• Experience with the non-profit conservation field, international NGOs, and environmental and/or development issues.
• Development:  experience either raising funds or supporting a fundraising team.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills including ability to explain often complex technical issues in an understandable way to a variety of internal and external audiences.
• Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish is essential.
