Local Engagement and Empowerment Programme (LEEP) Coordinator

• Location: Cambridge, UK
• Full time: 35 hours per week
• Contract: Two year fixed-term contract
• Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 pro rata per annum (dependent on skills & experience) plus competitive 12% pension benefit
• Annual Leave: 25 days pro rata per annum in year 1, increasing by 1 day pa to 28 days
 
BirdLife International is the world’s largest nature conservation partnership. Through our unique local-to-global approach, we deliver high impact and long-term conservation for the benefit of nature and people.
 
We are looking for someone to fill the position of LEEP Coordinator within the Partnership, Communities and Capacity Development (PCCD) department.  
This person will lead and manage the strengthening of the BirdLife Partnership at the local level. 
Specifically, the job holder will be responsible for:
Developing models and coordinating demonstrations of excellence in linking conservation, communities & livelihoods
Developing Partners’ capacity for supporting ‘Local Conservation Groups’ 
Expanding BirdLife Partnership’s local constituency, especially with children and young people.
 
The ideal candidate will have 
• Education to Master’s degree level in social sciences, development studies, conservation biology, wildlife management, or Anthropology
• Previous experience in a charitable organisation 
• Programme and project management
• Knowledge of the value and benefits of community engagement in global conservation and development initiatives 
• Passion for nature, wildlife and the environment
• High motivation for working in a conservation charity
• The right to work in the UK
