Head of Communities and Capacity Development

• Location: Cambridge, UK
• Full time: 35 hours per week
• Contract: Two year fixed-term contract 
• Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 pro rata per annum (dependent on skills & experience) plus competitive 12% pension benefit
• Annual Leave: 25 days pro rata per annum in year 1, increasing by 1 day pa to 28 days
 
BirdLife International is the world’s largest nature conservation partnership. Through our unique local-to-global approach, we deliver high impact and long-term conservation for the benefit of nature and people.
 
We are looking for someone to fill the recently created position of Head of Communities and Capacity Development in the Partnership, Communities and Capacity Development (PCCD) department.  
This person will provide leadership within the department and fundraise for, guide and promote two global programmes dealing with strengthening the Partnership at national and local levels. Crucially, this position will be responsible for the capitalisation and efficient running of the Capacity Development Fund, which aims to provide resources for strengthening the Partnership at national and local levels.
 
The ideal candidate will have 
• Education to Master’s degree level in conservation leadership; business management; organisational development; international development, or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of programme development and management; strategic management and governance
• Organisational development, training, capacity building
• Fundraising from various sources including corporates and institutional donors
• Passion for nature, wildlife and the environment and high motivation for working in a conservation charity 
• Previous experience in a charitable organisation would be an advantage
