Conservation Project Officer

• Location: Quito, Ecuador
• Full time: 40 hours per week
• Contract: Open-ended
• Salary: circa $USD 18,800
• Annual Leave: 21 days pro rata in year 1, increasing by 1 day pa to 25 days
 
BirdLife International is the world’s largest nature conservation partnership. Through our unique local-to-global approach, we deliver high impact and long-term conservation for the benefit of nature and people.
 
We are looking for someone to join BirdLife’s Conservation Action team to advance the organization’s mandate throughout the Western Hemisphere. 
 
This person will support the implementation of BirdLife’s portfolio of initiatives by assisting in the implementation, communication and administration of conservation projects, including:
• contracting, monitoring and information management
• researching and data analysis 
• reviewing and editing project reports
• liaising with Partners on issues of mutual interest
• disseminating knowledge and providing expertise on conservation issues to stakeholders
 
The ideal candidate will have 
• Relevant Bachelors degree (e.g. biology, geography, environmental studies) or equivalent experience.
• Project management diploma or studies desirable (and/ or proven project management experience).
• Familiarity with international conservation issues, including relevant environmental conventions and instruments.
• Demonstratable relevant experience in conservation projects management, preferably at international level, and including community-based projects.
• Demonstratable experience working in ornithological research.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills including ability to explain often complex technical issues in an understandable way to a variety of internal and external audiences.
• Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish is essential.
