Communications Officer – Internal/External Communications and Asia

• Location: Cambridge, UK
• Full time: 35 hours per week
• Contract: 1 year fixed term
• Salary: £23,000 pro rata plus competitive 12% pension benefit
• Annual Leave: 25 days pro rata in year 1, increasing by 1 day pa to 28 days
 
BirdLife International is the world’s largest nature conservation partnership. Through our unique local-to-global approach, we deliver high impact and long-term conservation for the benefit of nature and people.
 
We are looking for someone to work within our global Communications team.  This person will assist with sourcing, writing and editing powerful stories and short digital content for BirdLife International’s external and internal communication channels. You will play a key role in developing the communications in our Asia region, including our Asia Regional Newsletter, and promoting news releases and topical news stories from BirdLife Partners. Working in collaboration with colleagues from other departments, you will facilitate effective communication flow across the BirdLife Partnership, and support the roll out of fundraising campaigns, events and other initiatives.
 
 
The ideal candidate will have:
• Internal and/or external communications experience or relevant qualification
• Knowledge of global environmental issues and international conservation issues
• Passion for nature, wildlife and the environment and high motivation for working in a conservation charity
• Networking skills with a natural ability and curiosity to source relevant news stories from BirdLife International staff and Partners.
• Ability to build positive relationships with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
• Excellent skills in the use of Canva and Adobe creative Suite, or other on-line video editing platforms
• Additional languages to English are useful. Mandarin, Hindi, Bahasa or other important Asian region language skills would be an advantage
