Communications Assistant – Paternity Cover

Location: Cambridge, UK
Full time: 35 hours per week
Contract: 6 months fixed term
Salary: up to £22,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, plus competitive 12% pension benefit
Annual Leave: 25 days pro rata in year 1, increasing by 1 day pa to 28 days
BirdLife International is the world’s largest nature conservation partnership. Through our unique local-to-global approach, we deliver high impact and long-term conservation for the benefit of nature and people.
We are now seeking a self-motivated, innovative individual, with great communication skills to join our team. You will assist with sourcing, writing and editing powerful stories and short digital content for BirdLife International’s external channels as well as contribute to the creation of short impactful video content for use on social media platforms and the website.  In addition, you will support your Communications colleagues, to ensure the timely delivery of communications products and the Consulting Editor of the BirdLife Magazine in editing, project management, and writing. 
You should have experience with social media / digital communications, content creation, writing and editing as well as the journalistic curiosity to source stories.  You should also have the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and develop creative solutions to problems. Excellent computer literacy in standard software packages/office applications are essential, as are excellent skills in the use of Canva and Adobe creative Suite, or other on-line video editing platforms.
