Protection set to increase for migratory birds of prey in Europe, Asia and Africa

By BirdLife Europe

The EU Council of Ministers is on its way to signing an important Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) that would significantly increase protection for migratory raptors across European, Asian and African flyways, after a recommendation to do so by the European Commission. Following an EU Council signature, the ‘Memoranda of Understanding on the Conservation of Migratory Sharks and Birds’ would fall into effect for all the Member States that have not yet individually signed it, greatly increasing the geographic extent of its application. This is great news for everyone involved in raptor conservation as it serves to support and reinforce individual projects across these regions. A link to the full Memoranda can be found here.
