NABU takes action to save climate-relevant ecosystems


Since 2008, the International Climate Initiative (ICI) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment (BMU) has been financing climate protection projects in developing, transition and newly industrialised countries. Annually, 120 million Euros from the auctioning of emission allowances is available for use by the Initiative. The ICI serves as a supplement to the German development cooperation with a clear focus on climate protection. With projects in Ethiopia, Indonesia and the Western Caucasus funded by the ICI, NABU supports the conservation of forests with particularly high levels of biodiversity and is thereby contributing to climate protection and sustainable development.
