27 Mai  2020 -  #STOPtheKillings: Petition calls for action following the largest incident of vulture killings in the world

Guinea Bissau has lost more than 2000 Critically Endangered vultures in deliberate poisoning, in the world's largest incident of vulture deaths to date. We call on the Guinea Bissau government, CEDEAO and African Union to take ACTION and #StopTheKillings.

1 April 2020 - Taking Action againts Illegal Wildlife Trade in Africa

Globally and particularly in Africa, illegal wildlife trade continues to be a growing multibillion-dollar business. Statistics indicate that illegal wildlife trade globally generates between $7- $23 billion annually. Additionally, it is estimated that one out of every four bird or mammal species globally is caught up in wildlife trade. 

30 January 2020 - BirdLife Africa partners celebrate the World Wetlands Day 2020

World Wetland Day (WWD) is celebrated each year to highlight the important role played by wetlands in the environment, and organized by the Ramsar Convention Secretariat. BirdLife Africa partners mark this date with various celebrations. 

11 Octobre 2019 - Ethiopia Wildlife and Natural History Society (EWNHS) marks World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD)

Ethiopian Wildlife and Natural History Society-BirdLife International partner in Ethiopia will mark the World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) on October 12 and 15 2019. 
WMBD is celebrated twice a year in May and October to raise awareness on the need to conserve migratory birds and their habitats. 

10  September 2019 - BirdWatch Zambia Celebrates a Conservation Milestone

On 31st August and 1 September 2019, BirdWatch Zambia (BWZ) - BirdLife International partner in Zambia, marked a milestone, celebrating 50 years of conservation in the country. The event held at East Park Mall in Lusaka, brought together over 1700 participants for the two-day event.
