Mission of the organisation

NCF pursues the conservation of nature and its resources with the aim of improving the quality of human life both in the present and the future by:

  • Preserving the full range of Nigeria's biodiversity
  • Promoting the sustainable use of natural resources for the benefit of present and future generations
  • Advocating actions that minimise pollution and wasteful utilisation of renewable resources

Recent Achievements

  • Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF, Partner Designate)
  • Completed the survey of Important Bird Areas (IBAs) in Nigeria and completed a draft site account directory
  • Continued to monitor migrant bird populations in the Hadejia-Nguru wetlands
  • In collaboration with the RSPB and WWF-UK, initiated a community-based project aimed at establishing community-based sustainable renewable natural resources management systems at key sites in Nigeria for biodiversity conservation. - Continued fieldwork on the biology and distribution of the critically endangered Ibadan Malimbe
  • Continued to support the Nigerian National Parks Service in developing a management plan for Gashaka Gumti National Park
  • Continued supporting community initiatives towards management for the conservation of Barn Swallow roost sites at Ebok-boje
