Mission of the organisation

Improved understanding of the biodiversity of Madagascar and its conservation in natural ecosystems, and the promotion of its scientific, social, economic, cultural and ecological importance in Madagascar and world-wide.

Key Activities

  • To bring together Malagasy biodiversity specialists and enthusiasts
  • To improve communication and exchange of information among specialists, and also between Asity Madagascar and national and international partners with similar goals
  • To contribute to the preservation and conservation of the environment and biodiversity of Madagascar
  • To promote the conservation of key species, sites and habitats with the active participation of local communities to improve their quality of life
  • To develop research programmes on Madagascar's environment and biodiversity, especially in the realm of ornithology
  • To collaborate with national and international partners to safeguard Madagascar's natural heritage
  • To promote an ornithological reference structure in Madagascar
  • To strengthen the capacity of the Association's members
  • To ensure the sustainability of activities of Asity Madagascar
