Recent Achievements
- Biodiversity of database for EAMCF Hotspot maintained and expanded
- IBA monitoring status and trends 2004 launched
- Contributed to 2nd National report to CBD
- Input to national policy and legislation e.g. Forest Bill, Land Policy, EMCA, Wetlands
- Attendance at global fora (SBSTTAs, CBD-COPs, BirdLife Global Conference, IUCN, World Parks Congress, WSSD)
- 45 acres of land reserve purchased in Kinangop grasslands for protection of the globally threatened endemic Sharpe’s Longclaw
- Mt Kenya Resource Centre under construction supported by GEF UNDP COMPACT
- Membership has been maintained at over 1000 members
- Education programme is developing a resource book, Learning for sustainable living in Kenya, to be sent to all public schools in Kenya to help enhance teaching
- Donors diversified: USAID, KNH/NABU, DOF/DANIDA, Darwin, BP, Ford Foundation, GEF, GEF-COMPACT, IUCN Netherlands, Jensen Foundation, EU-BCP
