I was fortunate to see these little belters on their breeding grounds in Chukotka, Siberia in 1993. Has anyone from Birdlife International thought of contacting Roman Abramovich, multi-billionair owner of Chelsea F.C. and until recently, Governor of Chukotka, to be a species champion for this enigmatic but critically endangered wader? Spoon-billed Sandpipers.
