The start of the Sociable Lapwings’ autumn migration in 2010 appears to be slightly later than in the previous years we’ve been monitoring them. However, we still don’t know a great deal about the timing of their migrations so this is probably quite normal.
Unlike most of the birds we’ve tagged in central Kazakhstan our tagged birds in the east are now on the move.
A recent signal from Tatyana, logged at 21:28 on August 22nd, confirmed she has departed her breeding grounds in eastern Kazakhstan and has now travelled about 200 km. in a westerly direction.
