ACBK – Association for Conservation of Biodiversity in Kazakhstan was founded in April 2004 by three NGOs: The Bird Protection Society “Remez” (Almaty), the Kazakhstan Bird Conservation Union (Almaty) and the Public Center for the Protection of Wildlife “Arlan” (Karaganda). Since then two more NGOs have joined ACBK – NGO “Naurzum” (Kostanay) and the NGO “Rodnik” (Korgalzhyn, Akmola region).

ACBK’s mission is to “ensure the sustainable conservation of biodiversity of Kazakhstan based on high-quality scientific data and information, to develop partnerships with a national and international state and non-governmental organizations, to develop and assist local nature conservation initiatives and to support in the education of the future generations of specialists in nature conservation issues”.
