Books

The research that BirdLife undertakes is often published in books that are used to raise awareness amongst decision-makers (both local and international) about the need to conserve biodiversity. These publications are also essential reading for conservationists and bird enthusiasts everywhere. Sales of these books also help to contribute towards the cost of BirdLife's conservation work.

As well as books published through the BirdLife International Secretariat, many of our Partner Organisations publish their own book titles.

World Birdwatch magazine

World Birdwatch is the quarterly magazine of BirdLife International and is full of articles written by leading experts, bringing you exciting and informed insights into bird conservation projects straight from the field. Stunning photographs by leading wildlife photographers capture the vivid beauty of some of the world's rarest birds and the spectacular places where they live. The most up-to-date news about bird conservation is also featured.

World Birdwatch has been specially commended by the BBC Wildlife Magazine Awards. Issues are published in March, June, September and December.

Bird Conservation International

Bird Conservation International is BirdLife's scientific journal. This quarterly peer-reviewed journal focuses on the major conservation issues affecting birds and their habitats. It publishes original papers and reviews dealing with all aspects of the conservation of birds and their habitats and seeks to promote world-wide research and conservation action to ensure the protection of bird life and fragile environments. Specifically targeted articles and recommendations by leading experts encourage positive conservation steps towards resolving the current global problems of many bird species and their habitats.

Partner Journals

BirdLife International is made up of more than 100 Partner Organsiations from around the world. Many of these produce their own journals and magazines, relevent to their own country. Some organisations produce more than one title - perhaps a scientific title and a more populist one. Details of many of these journals can be found in the National Partner pages on this web site. Or, if you have an interest in a particular country's birdlife, try emailing the national BirdLife Partner to see whether they produce a journal and how to obtain copies of it.
