First Arcadia/BirdLife Conservation Partnership Fund newsletter
By Nick Askew, Wed, 13/10/2010 - 10:50
It gives me great pleasure to introduce the first Arcadia/BirdLife Conservation Partnership Fund newsletter. Funded by the Arcadia Foundation, the goal is to build conservation capacity at the national level by supporting a dynamic network of high impact self sustaining conservation NGOs to better protect key species, sites and habitats in their own countries. Currently, there are 10 participating organisations in the Arcadia/BirdLife Programme: Doƒüa Derneƒüi (BirdLife in Turkey), Ukrainian Society for the Protection of Birds (USPB, BirdLife in Ukraine), Latvian Ornithological Society (LOB, BirdLife in Latvia), Romanian Ornithological Society (SOR), SAVE Brasil (BirdLife in Brazil), Aves & Conservación (A&C Ecuador, BirdLife in Ecuador), Asity Madagascar, BirdLife Vietnam Programme, Burung Indonesia (BirdLife in Indonesia) and NatureFiji-MareqetiViti. This newsletter will provide six-monthly snapshots of progress. In this first edition, we also provide a summary of progress in Year One (2009). The idea is that this newsletter will help us all exchange ideas, skills and challenges. Do contact the various project proponents (see last page) or myself with comments, suggestions or any queries. I hope you enjoy reading this newsletter, and look forward to many more.
