As part of a Haiti-wide mangrove survey, the Fondation pour la Protection de la Biodiversité Marine (FoProBiM) has undertaken visits to Trou Caïman and Lac Azuéi Important Bird Areas to search these brackish lakes for remnants of inland mangroves.

Paraguayan environmental organizations including Guyra Paraguay (BirdLife in Paraguay) are alarmed at the recent decision of the national government to actively promote the settlement of small-scale farmers ('campesinos') within the Ñacunday National Park. The decision to promote a solution which flouts both national legislation and international conventions, sets a worrying precedent for other protected areas in the country.

Following a campaign led by Nature Kenya, supported by other BirdLife Partners, Kenya’s National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has officially rejected a proposal to convert 10,000 hectares of Dakatcha Woodland IBA to grow the biofuel crop jatropha.
