Workshop ushers in new collaboration for...

A recent workshop brought together the Eastern Afromontane Hotspot Regional Implementation Team (RIT), and representatives of the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) Secretariat. Participants developed a strategic plan for CEPF’s 5-year investment in the hotspot, aimed at strengthening civil society’s role in conservation in the region.

Call for applications now open for the 2013 Conservation Awards. Over $800,000 USD in grants are available each year through these awards, which are aimed at early-career conservationists from all over the world. The programme aims to promote the development of future conservation leaders and provide them with the capacity to address the most significant conservation issues of our time.

Fifteen new fundraisers in East Africa!

Fifteen young conservationists from six East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda and Ethiopia) successfully completed a project development, proposal writing and fundraising workshop at Mpala Research Centre in Kenya from 22-26 October.

Conservationists striving to conserve the Endangered Gangetic dolphin have recently been awarded a significant funding boost from the Darwin Initiative. The three-year project, a collaboration between the Zoological Society of London and Aaranyak will be led by in-country Project Leader Dr Wakid Abdul, Programme Head of Gangetic Dolphin Research and Conservation Programme.
