Esta celebración ambiental es festejada desde el 2003 por la organización Grupo Jaragua (BirdLife en República Dominicana) y el Grupo de Conservación Local Voluntarios Comunitarios de Jaragua, para concienciar a las comunidades aledañas al Parque Nacional Jaragua sobre las aves y sus hábitats.
