Interview with BirdLife's Middle East Advisor Richard Porter - Video
By Nick Askew
A report from David Lindo and the BirdGuides production team at the 2010 British Birdfair, interviewing Richard Porter (BirdLife's Middle East Advisor) and Simon Aspinall about their new book, Birds of the Middle East. The book describes all the birds of the region, including totally updated accounts of the larks and the large white-headed gull complex.
Richard has been visiting the Middle East for almost fifty years, and has recently returned from Northern Iraq, consulting for BirdLife International, where he has been pleasantly surprised by the recovery in bird populations. The book is dedicated to BirdLife International’s Middle East programme, and so will also be doing its bit for conservation as well.
Every fall, thousands of shorebirds prepare to embark on the ultimate American road trip. BirdLife and our Partners are working to ensure the epic road trip undertaken by America’s shorebirds is less treacherous. Make a donation to support conservation of the entire flyway.
