BirdLife Partners - Middle East

BirdLife’s Middle East Partnership currently includes national grassroots membership organisations in 9 countries, with representation in other countries in the region through project work, relationships with governments and other NGOs, and cross-border cooperation through the Migratory Birds and Flyways programme. The Partnership works to strengthen regional capacity to conserve birds and their habitats, and to raise the profile of Important Bird Areas. The Middle East Partnership is leading the revival of the Hima, a traditional community-based approach to protected area management, which is proving far more effective than conventional modern approaches in combining site conservation with sustainable development.
