BirdLife Partners in the Americas identified Neotropical mangroves as a priority habitat for conservation action. In 2010, they came together and created the Mangrove Alliance in order to facilitate concerted efforts for mangroves, biodiversity, and people. This focal group of Partners represents the nascent network from which the Alliance will be further developed.
Since 2010 the Mangrove Alliance has received support from the following organisations:
BirdLife International is a global Partnership of conservation organisations that strives to conserve birds, their habitats and global biodiversity, working with people towards sustainability in the use of natural resources.
MacArthur Foundation supports creative people and effective institutions committed to building a more just, verdant, and peaceful world.
Conservation Leadership Programme is a partnership of four conservation organisations – BirdLife International, Conservation International, Fauna & Flora International, the Wildlife Conservation Society – working to promote the development of future biodiversity conservation leaders.
International Programs of the United States Forest Service, Department of Agriculture promotes sustainable forest management and biodiversity conservation internationally.
