1 Introduction
BirdLife Europe is the European Division of BirdLife International, and is one of the six BirdLife regional offices around the world. It is composed of an international team of permanent staff working on conservation, capacity building, policy, management, finance, fundraising, advocacy, science, communication, marketing and administration. 2 OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB
The European Nature Conservation Officer supports the BirdLife European and Central Asian Partnership in defining, prioritising, agreeing and implementing a shared and owned regional and national sites and species conservation programme that realistically addresses the relevant objectives and priorities of the BirdLife strategy.
3 TASKS
3.1 Main tasks
1. To help develop conservation action funding proposals Important Bird Areas, Birds and Powerlines, Illegal Bird Killing, and Migratory birds or other conservation priorities decided by the BirdLife European and Central Asian partners..
2. To assist Partners in the development of IBA caretaker networks to promote local action for IBA monitoring and conservation as well as in the development of management plans for IBAs, in line with the BirdLife position on Management Plans for Natura 2000.
5. To facilitate the exchange of information and best practice and ensure effective communication with and between European and Central Asian Partners on site and species conservation know-how, relevant to the workplan.
6. To contribute to the development and implementation of BirdLife’s EU policy and advocacy work.
3.2 Other tasks
1. To support the EU Nature Policy Officer in species and sites casework within and outside the EU.
2. To assist in the development of appropriate funding proposals, including BirdLife Europe core grant.
3. To provide input into the development of the BirdLife European Programme and to review its implementation as appropriate.
4. To support appropriate training and capacity building programme for Partners on conservation action, in collaboration with other members of the European team.
5. To help better promote the core of BirdLife European and Central Asian partners’ conservation work
