EU Budget Policy Officer
BIRDLIFE INTERNATIONAL – CONSERVATION INTERNATIONAL
Salary: 3000 - 3300 EUR per month gross, depending on experience

BirdLife International Secretariat is the coordinating and servicing body of BirdLife International. The European Division is an international team of permanent staff who collectively provide a wide range of experience and skills within the fields of ornithology, conservation, management, fundraising, advocacy, communication, administration.
Conservation International (CI) is a global NGO committed to helping societies adopt a more sustainable approach to development. It works in more than 40 countries and targets priority marine areas, biodiversity hotspots, Earth’s biologically richest and most threatened places and high-biodiversity wilderness areas. Building upon a strong foundation of science, partnership and field demonstration, CI empowers societies to responsibly and sustainably care for nature for the well-being of humanity.
We are jointly seeking an EU Budget Policy Officer, based in Brussels. The post will help the BirdLife Partnership and CI ensure that biodiversity and ecosystems are identified as one of the funding priorities in the EU financial perspectives 2014-2020 and that relevant safeguards are built into EU spending mechanisms to avoid damage to biodiversity and ecosystems.
In particular, the post will help ensure that protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems are included as key climate change mitigation and adaptation measures in the preparatory documents produced by DG Budget and DG Regional Policy on the future of the structural and cohesion policy.
The successful candidate will have a relevant university degree with good knowledge and relevant experience in political lobbying, especially in the field of EU Budget.
She/he will have good familiarity with EU institutions, good knowledge of conservation issues and priorities, fundraising and campaigning experience, fluent English, good interpersonal and team working skills, willingness to travel extensively in Europe.
Reporting to the BirdLife Head of EU Policy and to CI European Policy Director, you will work closely with Staff from BirdLife Partners and other regional Divisions and the headquarters in Cambridge (UK) and with CI-Europe staff, the Center for Conservation and Government (CCG), and CI field and thematic programmes as appropriate.
