Head of EU Policy, European Division - Based in Brussels, Belgium

BirdLife International is a global Partnership of conservation organisations that strives to conserve birds, their habitats and global biodiversity, working with people towards sustainability in the use of natural resources through global Partnership of over 100 countries.
BirdLife International Secretariat is the coordinating and servicing body of BirdLife International. The European Division is an international team of permanent staff who collectively provide a wide range of experience and skills within the fields of ornithology, conservation, management, fundraising, advocacy, communication, administration.
We are seeking a Head of EU Policy for our European Division office based in Brussels. The post will lead and coordinate the EU policy work of the European Division, supporting the development of views and positions of the BirdLife Partnership on relevant policy issues. She/he will also promote, coordinate and represent the views of the BirdLife Partnership to the EU institutions, promote legislative change and raise the political profile of issues and policies, while promoting BirdLife priorities.
The successful candidate will have a relevant university degree with at least three years experience in political lobbying and staff management, political awareness with strong familiarity with EU institutions, good knowledge of conservation issues and priorities, fundraising and campaigning experience, fluent English, good interpersonal and team working skills, willingness to travel extensively in Europe.
Reporting to the Regional Director of the European Division, you will work closely with Staff from BirdLife Partners and other regional Divisions and the headquarters in Cambridge (UK). Considerable travel within Europe will be necessary.
Salary: Circa Euro 4200 per month gross
