Falklands Conservation - 2 positions

We are looking to fill the following two positions:

 

Habitat Restoration Project Officer to implement a new (Darwin Plus funded) habitat restoration project in the Falkland Islands

Based in Stanley, Falkland Islands

Starts from 1 April 2014 for around two years

Salary:  £21,000pa

 

The ideal candidate would be a degree level biologist, ecologist or agronomist with practical experience of restoration or remediation projects.  Working closely with UK and local partners, you will implement the Darwin Plus funded Habitat Restoration Project, building capacity in the Falklands to restore eroded or otherwise degraded habitats using locally sourced, native seeds. You will produce practical guidelines for re-vegetation based on quality, landscape-scale research.  Secondment arrangements would be considered. 

 

Lower Plants Project Officer to implement a new (Darwin Plus funded) lower plant conservation project in the Falkland Islands

Based in Stanley, Falkland Islands

Starts from 1 April 2014 for up to two years

Salary:  £21,000pa

 

The ideal candidate would be a degree level botanist with practical experience of plant surveys.  Working closely with UK and local partners, you will have excellent communication skills, be happy working in a remote and sometimes challenging environment and have experience of monitoring techniques and data management.  Knowledge of the Falklands, familiarity with lower plants and GIS are desirable but training will be provided.  Secondment arrangements would be considered.
