Archived 2010-2011 topics: Honduran Emerald (Amazilia luciae): downlist to Endangered?

Honduran Emerald Amazilia luciae is currently listed as Critically Endangered, however recent records signifying the rediscovery of the species in Santa Barbara department (Anderson et al. 2010) have extended the species’s known current range into western Honduras, whilst improved knowledge and mapping of its range in central-northern and central-eastern Honduras have further increased the area over which the species is thought to be extant, and it has now been found in semi-deciduous woodland as well as thorn forest. It is therefore proposed that the species be downlisted to Endangered. Continue reading
