|BirdLife Partners around the European Union have assessed country specific progress regarding the implementation of the Natura 2000 network (designation, management and financing of the network), as well as on selected topics that will be key in reaching the EU 2020 Biodiversity Target in their countries.
Recommendations, priority tasks or milestonesfor 2014, are proposed on all topics.
Natura 2000 rating of country progress – method:
Chick: some gaps in the network remain that need to be filled; between 40% and 70% overlap of SPA network with IBA network (OR high IBA/SPA overlap but key IBAs are still missing or weak SCI network)
Egg: severe gaps in designation, significant progress needed; less than 40% overlap of SPA network with IBA network
Adult: a full and consistent approach to management of all Natura 2000 sites is (close to) established at national or regional level.
Chick: a first important share of management plans for Natura 2000 sites has been developed and approved/endorsed OR other management instruments (other than management plans) are in place within Natura 2000
Egg: no or few management plans approved (yet) OR some plans developed but important drivers of damage not tackled
