Comparison of costs and benefits of investing in nature conservation in Poland and available EU funding for Natura 2000


 
 
 

  1. The terrestrial Natura 2000 network covers 19.4 % of the total area of Poland.

  3. The estimated benefits of only the provisioning services, such as honey, game, mushrooms and wild berries in the Natura 2000 Site Bialowieza Forest are around EUR 700,000/year.

  5. In the period 1990-2007 Poland had a GDP growth of over 75 %. Greenhouse gas emissions remained at a stable level of approximately 30 % below the 1988 emission levels, in
