Member State Tasks
- Recommendation on Natura 2000 designation: Designate as SPAs all Portuguese Marine IBAs
- Recommendation on Natura 2000 management: Significantly increase the number of Natura 2000 sites with participatory and effective Management plans and management bodies. 50% of all Natura 2000 sites should have management plans by 2014, with priority for those holding Globally Threatened Species, especially farmland and lowland forest areas.
- Recommendation Natura 2000 financing: Strengthening the involvement of NGOs and other private organizations in Natura 2000 management through funding from EU. Funding programs (Cohesion, Rural Development, LIFE, others) with clear lines for Natura 2000 site management available for NGOs or partnerships with NGOs.
