Angelo Caserta: Regional Director of BirdLife Europe
Angelo manages the BirdLife Europe office, coordinating the team based in Brussels, UK and Portugal. He has 20 years experience in non-profit leadership, organisational development, strategic thinking, fundraising, policy and research, facilitation and mediation, impact assessment. He is responsible for ensuring an effective and inclusive working environment that enables the European team, the European Partners and BirdLife International to fulfill objectives and mission. Angelo represents BirdLife as appropriate within BirdLife International and external fora and, as Director of BirdLife Europe, he contributes to the development of BirdLife's global strategy, programme and policies in collaboration with other Regional Heads and Directors. Angelo speaks Italian, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and basic Dutch. Angelo is based in Brussels, Belgium.

Ariel Brunner: Head of EU Policy
Ariel is responsible for the coordination of BirdLife's work on EU Policy and takes the lead in various cross-cutting issues such as Climate Change and the EU budget. He speaks Italian, English, Spanish, French, as well as Hebrew. Ariel is based in Brussels, Belgium.

Tatiana Nemcova: Senior EU Advocacy Officer

Tatiana is a joint RSPB (BirdLife Partner in the UK) and BirdLife staff member. She is responsible for assisting policy experts and BirdLife Partners to liaise effectively with the EU institutions. Together with colleagues she helps identifying policy opportunities in the EU institutions and put forward BirdLife priorities. She is based in Brussels. She speaks Slovak, English and has notions of German.

Trees Robijns: EU Agriculture Policy Officer

Trees deals with EU Agriculture Policy and other related policies linked to agriculture and biodiversity, including land use, bioenergy and climate adaptation and mitigation. She speaks Dutch, English, French, German and Italian. Trees is based in Brussels, Belgium.

Bruna Campos: EU Financial Perspectives Policy Officer
Bruna is a joint BirdLife and Conservation International staff member. She follows the multi-annual financial framework, identifying funding priorities within the annual budgets for biodiversity, climate action and ecosystems, and her job involves working with financial mechanisms throughout different policies. She speaks Portuguese, French, English and Spanish. Bruna is based in Brussels, Belgium.

Sophie Herbert: EU Nature Policy Officer

Sophie works on EU nature and biodiversity policy, especially on the proper implementation and enforcement of the Birds and Habitats directives and on the protection and management of the Natura 2000 network.

Boris Barov: Conservation Programme Coordinator for the BirdLife-HeidelbergCement Biodiversity Partnership
Boris Barov, Conservation Programme Coordinator for the BirdLife-HeidelbergCement Biodiversity Partnership. Contributing to both organisations' ability to achieve sustainable development, Boris coordinates joint work between BirdLife and HeidelbergCement national units on improving the existing biodiversity management standards at HeidelbergCement sites. Both organisations work together to implement a joint Biodiversity Conservation Programme based on state of the art analysis and conservation planning and contributing to European biodiversity targets. Boris was trained as ecologist and has over 10 years of practical experience in a BirdLife partner. Boris is based in Brussels, Belgium

Ian Burfield: European Science and Data Manager
Ian is responsible for identifying research and data needs, and then designing and coordinating suitable projects to meet them. Through the European Partnership, he collates national population and trend data on all European bird species and assesses their conservation status at European level (Birds in Europe), as well as contributing to global updates (IUCN Red List). He also coordinates the identification and monitoring of Important Bird Areas (IBAs) in Europe, overseeing a network of more than 4,500 sites and ensuring that all of them meet BirdLife’s criteria. Ian is based in Cambridge, UK.

Herlinde Herpoel: Head of European Communication & Marketing
Herlinde is responsible for Communication and Marketing at BirdLife Europe and has ten years of experience in PR, Communication and Events. She advises the BirdLife European and Central Asian Partnership on internal and external communication matters and implements marcom strategies in order to raise the profile of BirdLife. Herlinde oversees launches and events for new activities and ensures the integration of PR and communication strategies into all BirdLife Europe’s programmes and activities. Herlinde is based in Brussels, Belgium and speaks Dutch, French, English, German and basic Spanish and Danish.

Iván Ramírez: European Marine Coordinator
Iván Ramírez works as European Marine Coordinator since January 2009 and leads the development and effective implementation of BirdLife’s Marine Important Bird Areas (IBA) programme and seabird conservation in Europe, following the guidelines established by both BirdLife Europe and the Global Seabird Programme. He contributes to the planning, development, implementation and communication amongst the European Partners and the BirdLife Europe office in this field. He is also responsible for the implementation of the European Natura 2000 Network at sea, through the declaration of Marine SPAs. Iván is based in SPEA(BirdLife in Portugal), but travels frequently to Brussels and to many European countries, he has been working within BirdLife for the last 7 years and speaks fluently Portuguese, Spanish, English and basic French.

Borut Rubinič: Partner Development Officer for the Balkans, Ukraine and Baltic
Borut Rubinič is responsible for developing capacity building and establishing an effective network of seven selected nature conservation NGOs in the Balkans, raising the level of environmental and biodiversity protection in the area. Borut is based in Ljubljana, Slovenia. He speaks Slovenian, English, Serbo-Croatian, German and basic Italian and Russian.

Marina Rollet: Finance Officer
Marina is responsible for the day-to-day runnings of the finance administration of BirdLife Europe in Brussels and for the coordination of the finance side of all project agreements between the office and the European Partners.
