Clairie Papazoglou: Regional Director of the European Division

 

European Divison, BrusselsClairie manages the European Division of BirdLife which has staff in Brussels, UK, Belarus and the Netherlands. She is responsible for the smooth operation of the office, implementation of the work programme, coordination between BirdLife Partners and Division staff for the delivery of BirdLife's European Programme and represents BirdLife as appropriate within BirdLife International and external fora. As director of the European Division, Clairie contributes to the development of BirdLife's global strategy, programme and policies in collaboration with other regional heads and directors. Konstantin Kreiser: EU Policy Manager

 

European Division, BrusselsKonstantin is responsible for the coordination of BirdLife's work on EU Policy and takes the lead in various cross-cutting issues such as Climate Change and the EU budget. Konstantin speaks German, English, Spanish and Russian, and has a good knowledge of French.

Rastislav Rybanic: EU Nature Policy Officer

 

European Division StaffRastislav works on EU Nature policy issues with a strong focus on improving the implementation of EU Nature Directives, hunting or specific cases of threatened sites. His job is to assist national BirdLife partners and maintain in close contact with the EU institutions. Within the European Division of BirdLife Rastislav is the contact person for the Birds and Habitats Directives Task Force. He speaks Slovak, English and has notions of German.

Ariel Brunner: EU Agriculture Policy Officer

 

ECO Office, BrusselsAriel works on agriculture issues and is mainly concerned with promoting reform to the EU Common Agriculture Policy (CAP). His job is assisting national BirdLife partners and dealing with the EU institutions and he is contact within the European Division of BirdLife for the Agriculture Task Force. He speaks Italian, English, Spanish, French, as well as Hebrew.

Tatiana Nemcova: EU Advocacy Officer

 

ECO Office, BrusselsTatiana is a joint RSPB (BirdLife Partner in the UK) and BirdLife staff member. She is responsible for assisting policy experts and BirdLife Partners to liaise effectively with the EU institutions. Together with colleagues she helps identifying policy opportunities in the EU institutions and put forward BirdLife priorities. She is based in Brussels. She speaks Slovak, English and has notions of German.

Boris Barov: European Conservation Manager

 

European Division, BrusselsBoris works with the Partners to ensure that Europe’s globally threatened birds and IBAs are conserved. He is responsible for action plans for threatened species, development and implementation of on the ground conservation projects, building of networks of site support groups (IBA Caretakers) and safeguarding threatened sites in non-EU countries. He is available to provide general support to BirdLife Partners in developing their conservation programmes and in sharing their experience with others in the network. He also supports the European Forest Task Force in their work. Boris was trained as ecologist and has over 10 years of practical experience in a BirdLife partner.

Maria Solernou: Funding Development Manager
 

European DivisionMaria is responsible for fundraising and development for the European division and its wider programme. In addition to seeking funding partners for the division's own work programme, she also assists BirdLife's European partners to develop their fundraising capacity and secure funds for priority project across Europe. She works with the European Union, national governments, foundations and corporations to not only raise needed funds, but also to develop working partnerships to achieve BirdLife's conservation goals.

Herlinde Herpoel: Media and Communication Manager

 

European Division, BrusselsHerlinde is responsible for public relations and communication at the BirdLife European Division. She advises BirdLife partners in Europe on various communication issues, brings them in contact with each other and keeps them updated on European news. She is responsible for media contacts and works together with the European team to promote BirdLife's activities and brand in Europe.

Alessia Pautasso: Communication and Information officer

European Division, BrusselsAlessia is responsible and editor of BirdLife Europe e-news, BirdLife monthly pan-European newsletter and follows the preparation of other BirdLife publications. She monitors international publications on a daily basis, keeping the European Division and BirdLife Partners up to date on the main environmental issues. Together with the Media & Communication Manager she works in constant contact with Partners and helps with the organization of conferences and workshops. Alessia is Italian and she speaks English, French and German.

Marina Rollet: Finance Officer

Marina is responsible for the day-to-day runnings of the finance administration of the European Division in Brussels and for the coordination of the finance side of all project agreements between the European Division and the European Partners. She works closely with the finance team of Birdlife International in Cambridge. Marina speaks French, English, Italian and German.

Delphine Ferrara: Office Manager

Delphine is responsible for the day-to-day runnings of the office and administration. She is supporting the BirdLife European Division Staff and the BirdLife European Partners for visits to Brussels and she is also taking care of the office logistics. She speaks French, English, Dutch and German.

Alexandre Vintchevski: Partner Development Officer - Eastern Europe

 

European Division, BrusselsAlexandre monitors and assists development of partner and candidate organizations in Eastern Europe, especially Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, the Baltic countries, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and the Balkans. He helps to develop capacity and is available to provide support to BirdLife Partners in their Strategic planning and in sharing their experience with others. He speaks Belarusian, Russian, English and understands Polish and Ukrainian.
