Population justification: The population is estimated to number 1,000-2,499 mature individuals, based on an assessment by S. K. Herzog (in litt. 1999) that numbers are probably below 3,000 mature individuals. This is broadly consistent with estimates based on the extent of its range and the density of other Cranioleuca and Synallaxis spinetails in the BirdLife Population Densities Database. It equates to a population size of 1,500-3,749 individuals in total, rounded here to 1,500-4,000 individuals. |
