Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is described as the commonest Yuhina in south China, and generally common throughout its range (del Hoyo et al. 2007). Brazil (2009) estimates the population in China at c.10,000-100,000 breeding pairs.
Trend justification: The population is suspected to be stable because the species is tolerant of degraded habitat and so is unlikely to be at risk from loss of habitat.
