Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is reported to be very common on Principe and frequent to uncommon on Sao Tome (del Hoyo et al. 1997).
Trend justification: The species is suspected to be undergoing a moderately rapid decline owing to hunting pressure (R. F. de Lima in litt. 2011; M. Carvalho in litt. 2011).
