Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is reported to be scarce to locally common (Baker 1997).
Trend justification: The population is estimated to be in decline following a recorded decrease in Israel in the 1980s, probably owing to habitat loss (del Hoyo et al. 2006).
