Ornithological information See box for key species. There is a report of large numbers of terns nesting on the island. Notable numbers of feeding and/or moving seabirds occur offshore, e.g. Puffinus persicus (see box).
Site description An island off Hino, c.7 km south-east of Marbat, lying within the zone of strong upwelling during the summer monsoon.

Other biodiversity Unusual beds of kelp Ecklonia radiata with abalones Haliotis mariae and the spiny lobster Panulirus homarus occur offshore.
Management considerations Over-exploitation of eggs for food with resulting disturbance of nesting birds is reported to be a major problem. The area is part of the proposed Marbat National Nature Reserve (26,000 ha).
