Site description An island off Hino, c.7 km south-east of Marbat, lying within the zone of strong upwelling during the summer monsoon.

Key Biodiversity See box for key species. There is a report of large numbers of terns nesting on the island. Notable numbers of feeding and/or moving seabirds occur offshore, e.g. Puffinus persicus (see box).

Non-bird biodiversity: Unusual beds of kelp Ecklonia radiata with abalones Haliotis mariae and the spiny lobster Panulirus homarus occur offshore.
