Ornithological information See boxes for key species. An important staging and wintering area for a wide variety of shorebirds, gulls and terns. Ardeola grayii and Burhinus recurvirostris are probably resident, and Ardea goliath has been recorded. Pterocles exustus and Calandrella raytal occur on the plains.
Site description A large tidal creek (Khor Jask) and adjacent mudflats, beaches, dunes and sparsely vegetated sandy plains on the coast of south-west Iranian Baluchistan, a few kilometres north of the fishing port of Jask. The creek extends several kilometres inland and contains a particularly fine stand (c.100 ha) of mangrove Avicennia marina at its far end. Land ownership is public.
