Ornithological information See box for key species. A wintering area for a wide variety of waterfowl including good numbers of Cygnus olor and Mergellus albellus. The surrounding plains are probably an important staging area for Charadrius asiaticus.

Site description Lying c.40 km north of Gorgan, the site comprises a small freshwater lake with some emergent marsh vegetation. It is surrounded by grassy steppe and arable land.
