Ornithological information See Box and Tables 2 and 3 for key species. Species recorded include Ceratogymna cylindricus which was recorded in only 12 of the 50 forest sites covered in the IBA survey.

Site description The Bosomtwe Range Forest Reserve is situated some 20 km from the village of Beposo, east of Bekwai town. The vegetation is moist semi-deciduous forest. About 5% of the reserve (378 ha) comprises Cedrela, Entandrophragma angolense, Khaya ivorensis, Pterygota and Terminalia superba plantations. The last logging was recorded in 1986. Several farms exist in parts of the reserve.

Management considerations The reserve was designated in 1931 and is classified as a Hill Sanctuary. The condition of the forest is poor, a mosaic of Condition 3 and 4, with a low GHI (46). Increased fire protection for this reserve has been recommended.
