Site description These contiguous forest reserves are located some 100 km north-east of Abidjan and south of the town of Bettié near the border with Ghana. They are bordered to the east by the Comoé river. Mabi (59,800 ha), to the north, contains one village enclave and associated areas of cultivation in the west, but much of the forest adjacent to the Comoé is in excellent condition. Yaya (24,100 ha) is surrounded by fewer villages than Mabi and, especially in the north where it merges with Mabi, the forest is relatively undisturbed. The vegetation of both reserves is predominantly moist lowland evergreen forest.
