Ornithological information The area supports hundreds of migrating ducks in spring, as well as a wide variety of breeding waterfowl and waders.
Site description A slow-flowing river with associated estuary and seasonally flooded marshes (dominated by sedge Carex) by Akureyri airport.

Management considerations Development of the airport poses a threat, and birds are disturbed by hunters, horse-riders and dog-walkers. The area is on the list of sites of conservation interest in the Nature Conservation Register.
