Ornithological information One of the six most important breeding sites for Phalaropus fulicarius in Svalbard.
Site description A large, flat area, some parts with rich grassy vegetation, and with many freshwater pools.

Management considerations The Norwegian Directorate for Nature Management and the Governor of Svalbard have the authority to impose restrictions on access to the Bird Sanctuary, if necessary, e.g. during the breeding season.
