Ornithological information Several species listed on Annex I of the EC Birds Directive, including Botaurus stellaris, Circus aeruginosus, Haliaeetus albicilla, Bubo bubo and Lanius collurio, have been recorded breeding at the site but no recent data are available.
Site description A large lake surrounded by meadows, heathland, bog and forest. Percentage cover of habitat and land-use types are poorly known.

Management considerations Formerly Hostrup lake was an important botanical locality but nutrient pollution and the abandonment of grazing have resulted in the loss of several rare species.
